Mintons, a 19th Century Pate-Sur-Pate Cabinet Plate, signed L. Solon
A magnificently decorated plate depicting Venus feeding a bird from a chalice, attended by 2 winged cupids. One cupid playing a lyre, the other braiding a floral wreath. The depiction crisply detailed in pate-sur-pate, on a black ground with raised gilding on the plate's rim.
Signed: "L. Solon" at the base under the figures
Gilt "Mintons" mark within a globe on reverse, also marked "Anacreontic Muse"
Acquired: Miami Beach Antiques Show, 1981
