Tony Ocel entered the Navy at the age of 17 in 1944 where he served for four years, and then again during the Korean War from 1950-52. When he returned from duty he worked as a draughtsman for Sears and Roebuck. Late in life, he turned to painting scenes of WWII from memory, using house paints and cardboard, and often constructed his own frames, as we have in this lot.
