Buy with Us

Every object has a story. At Link, we learn the history of the item, we establish the fair market value, and we present each item to the market. By the time these objects are available for preview, we are able to share what we have learned, and advise our customers about the condition, history, and market value. Our team of specialists is here to guide you through the buying process at Link. We are happy to answer questions about the objects in our auctions and provide detailed condition reports for those who cannot view the items in person.

Bidding at Link is Easy

Here are the basic methods of bidding with Link Auction Galleries.

In Person

Link is open for in person previews prior to each auction. Our auction sales room is located in a historic chapel and has the capacity to seat up to 200 attendees.  If you wish to attend the auction, you must register for a bidding paddle. Once registered with a number, you are free to bid.  Keep in mind, there is a buyer’s premium of 20 per cent added to the hammer price, in addition to sales tax where applicable, and credit card fees.

Via Telephone

You may register to bid via telephone up to 5:00 pm Central Time the evening prior to the auction.  In order to register, we require your name, address, email, telephone number, and a credit card for first-time bidders. During the auction, we will call you several lots ahead of the item(s) you are interested in bidding on, and our clerks will bid on your behalf as instructed by you.

Via Absentee Bid

You may fill out an absentee bid form prior to the auction. On the form, simply indicate the lot number, a brief description of the item, and the highest amount you are willing to bid. Our auctioneer will bid on your behalf up to the amount you indicate. Our standard practice is to start at half the low estimate with your bid. If there are competing bids, i.e. other absentee bids, the bidding may start at a higher amount.

Condition Reports

We encourage out-of-town bidders to request condition reports for items before bidding.  Any condition statement that is given as a courtesy to a client is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Link Auction Galleries shall have no responsibility for any error or omission. All lots are sold “as is” and are not returnable. The absence of a posted condition report does not indicate that an item is in perfect condition, and our staff is always happy to accommodate requests for condition status should time permit.

Online
