19th c. Framed Lithograph of "Le Perroquet" by Honoré Daumier
Antique Framed Lithograph of "Le Perroquet" ("The Parrot") created and published in 1838 by Honoré-Victorin Daumier (1808-1879)--a Parisian artist famous in his time as France's best-known caricaturist. Daumier was self-taught, learning his craft by sketching from masterpieces on display at the Louvre Museum. He created and published lithographs for over 40 years and is considered a comic genius. This print design includes a man sitting in a chair before a barber who is adjusting his hair in an amusing fashion; the lithograph includes a paragraph-length explanation of the scene in French. This lithograph is also part of the permanent collection of The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
