Description:

19th c. Painted Icon of a Bishop Holding Maquette (Model) of a Church
Oil on wood panel, 19th c. Mexican. A finely-dressed bishop (or possibly an abbot?) wears a white mitre, dresses in long white cassock with a white mozzetta (cape), holds a tall staff in his right hand, and in his left hand supports a maquette: a model of a church that he had been associated with (or founded, had built, etc.).

  • Dimensions: ca. 16cm x 23cm
  • Condition: Good overall for its age. However there is some chipped paint; about 30 small woodworm holes throughout; and part of the bottom right hand corner of the wood panel is worn away
