A Fine English Georgian Period Rolled Paper (Quillwork) and Shell Tea Caddy
An exceptional English 18th Century single compartment tea caddy. The top and front panels decorated with gilt rolled paper in an intricate floral design. The canted corners and back panels on the lower section inlaid with shell. The 2 end panels on the lower panels with banded wood. The panels on the top section all inlaid with shell, except the front top panel, which is rolled paper. All edges with elaborately inlaid wood. The lid accented with a brass ring pull. Interior laid down with a marbled paper.
Approximate dimensions - 5.75" wide, 5" deep, 5" tall
Condition - in overall very good, age appropriate, condition. The box retains a deep, rich patina. The rolled paper sections are intact and stable, noting little evidence of issues with the scrollwork sections. Restoration to the lower and upper back shell inlay. Some minor restorations to small areas of the inlaid borders.
