A Massive 1904 Worlds Fair Mahogany Apothecary Store
A complete room comprised of a series of shelving units, five of which have a multitude of small drawers, four units having lower display cases and the center with mirrored back, all with extraordinarily carved and turned ball and spindle pediment. comprising a total of eleven display cabinets four of which are two member along with four mirrored back panels.

This piece is a museum quality example of cabinetmaking, handcrafted for one of the three pharmaceutical firms known to have been exhibitors at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri. The ensemble was purchased after the fair by Guilford D. Brown, a pharmacy owner from South Boston who attended the fair and took note of the artistry the piece displayed.

In 1976, Robert Gamm, the founder of Kangaroo Shoes in St. Louis, purchased the unit when Francis Toland, the last proprietor of the 137 year old Boston drug store, closed the store upon his retirement.
