Other Notes: Aristide Joseph Bonaventure Maillol was a prominent French artist who is famous for his bronze statues of female nudes. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts under Jean-Léon Gérôme and Alexandre Cabanel. The majority of his works depict the mature female form. A large collection of Maillol's work is maintained at the Musée Maillol in Paris. In the United States, three of his bronzes are displayed permanently in the grand staircase of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. His works are exhibited in museums across the world.
