Four Antique Large German Dresden Porcelain Cupids on Bolted Plinths
Germany, late 19th/early 20th century, the lot consists of two pairs of figures from different sets, but with almost identical plinths. One pair emblematic of dancing bacchanalian Putti, both with musical instruments, one with a wine chalice. The other pair of winged cupids emblematic of the Seasons, one Summer with floral decoration, the other of Fall with grape harvest. All 4 on very similar plinths, one set with feet, the other appears to have never had feet.

  • Dimensions: Ranging in size from 16 3/4 to 17 1/2 inches, 6 inches deep
  • Condition: Although all figures display very well, each figure displays extensive early restoration and small chips/damage. In addition to the chips and cracks, UV lighting shows: The figure holding the chalice exhibits restoration on the hands, base and chalice. The figure holding the tambourine exhibits restoration on the arm, base and tambourine. The figure of Fall has been reattached at the base of the figure as well as wings. The figure of Summer has repainting on the entire length of the scarf and appears to has been reattached at the base. Please note, due to the amount of restoration, small repairs are not mentioned, only the major restorations.
