Meissen, A Monumental Covered Urn Emblematic of War (Fire), modeled by J.J. Kaendler
The heavily detailed urn referred to as the War or Fire urn, originally modelled circa 1740 for the King of France. The body with a molded battle scene, mounted with figures and appliques associated with war; trophies to one side, a soldier and putti to the other. The lid molded in the image of Zeus riding an Eagle and holding a lightening bolt.
On reverse: Dieu Et Mon Droit.
