Original gilt brown ribbed cloth, slight rubbing of the gilt titles otherwise very good and tight. Includes signed in the plate engraved frontispieces of both brothers enslaved in Kentucky; it is the story of two sons of a Black mother and White father and of their eventual freedom. It is an early key slave narrative (along with Frederick Douglass' 1845 narrative) and is among the first published in America.
Listed in The Charles L. Blockson Collection at Temple in Philadelphia and in The Schoenberg Collection at the New York Public library; and at Haverford. A rare book.
