Description:

Siegfried Reinhardt (1925-1984)The Golden Portfolio
Six multi-colored lithographs in their original large gold-colored portfolio envelope St. Louis-based artist Siegfried Reinhardt loved to combine elements of realism with elements of surrealism, sometimes called super-realism. His main subject was humanity, and he excelled at capturing faces and figures in architectural settings that include seemingly miscellaneous objects painted in extraordinary detail. Reinhardt painted what Rusty Freeman of Cedarhurst Center for the Arts calls "puzzles." And his puzzles, loaded with signs, symbols, and iconographic messages (from art history, pop culture, everyday life, music, architecture, literature and religion), remain open to interpretation—since Reinhardt declined to explain what his work meant. "The Golden Portfolio" is a selection of six multi-colored lithographs that were produced in a limited edition in 1959 by Universal Printing Company in St. Louis, Missouri. This series of six lithographs (in six colors) portrays some fascinating representations of paintings by the artist.
Each print measures 28" x 10". Unframed.
