Silver Don Quixote Bust Chess Miquel de Cervantes Set in Book-Like Coffer
Circa 1970. Incredible, beautiful details. All pieces have five-point star (silver) and manufacturer (unknown) stamps on the underside of the base. King=Don Quixote,
Queen=Dulcinea de Tobosa, Bishops=Sancho Panza, Knights=Horse-heads (Rosinante), Rooks=Spinning Windmills, Pawns=Miguel de Cervantes (author). Bust part of each piece looks pewter, one side silver the other oxidized dark finish. The base podiums look (and are
stamped) silver. Stored in a custom book-like box title Ajedres De Don Quixote (Chess of Don Quixote). Book- Box ~14.5" x 11" x 2.75" and is lined with red velvet- cloth. A beautiful silver (unstamped) board size 9" x 9" completes this amazing piece of art. Excellent Condition. Materials-Silver, Pewter. Origin Spain 1970s.
