The benefits and process of pasteurization were discovered by Louis Pasteur in 1864. Pasteurization gained popularity in the following decades, Steinlen's poster promoted the safety of sterilized milk and its benefits to humans and animals.

  • Dimensions: 55 x 39 1/2 inches (visible)
  • Medium: color lithographic poster, linen backed
  • Condition: This poster has been linen backed. The excess linen is wrapped around a piece of board that is fitted in the framing. It will be possible to remove it for shipping, but it has not been fully removed for the purpose of a condition report. There is a horizontal fold line in the center. There are also some faint creases at the edges where the poster was previously rolled. There is a small loss to the paper upper right (image attached). There is a small white spot of inpaint at the lower center. A repaired tear lower left through the E in Verneau. There are white highlights around the girl's head, mouth, wrist and chin that aren't consistent with other examples of this poster. (images attached). Overall, this poster appears to be in good condition.
