Born in 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri, Tony Cray is a Missouri based studio glass artist / object maker. Working primarily with furnace blown glass since the mid-late 1980's, the artist holds a BFA (studio art 1990), from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. In 1997, Cray founded and built Snake Ranch Studio, a full-time glass studio, located in the wooded hills of New Melle, Missouri. Cray's detail driven aesthetic uses line, form, color, pattern, repetition, and texture, to create a sense of visual rhythm in his distinctly modern, classical inspired blown glass works. Having exhibited extensively over the past 30+ years in numerous gallery, group, and solo exhibitions, Cray's work is
included in countless public and private collections.
